Admissions
Anyone considering applying to join our school is warmly invited to contact the school office to make an appointment to visit the school, meet the Head Teacher and see our learning in action.
We hold our annual open event each October. This enables prospective parents to come and see our lovely school and if your have children in other years we do have some places available. This is not simply an opportunity for prospective parents to view our school, but a genuine invitation to all current parents, prospective parents and members of our community to visit us and see us in action.
Our Head Teacher and Governors are also on hand to answer questions and discuss their strategic role. Individual visits can be arranged at any time through the year, please contact our Business Manager Shelley Boulton on 01488 668219 if you would like to make an appointment. We are proud of our school and enjoy sharing our successes with prospective parents, so do please come and see our learning in action.
As a Local Authority School prospective parents should contact the local authority to find out more about the schools admission arrangements.
In Year School Moves/Transfers
If you are considering a change of school for your child, we would be very pleased to discuss your child’s needs. The link below will provide information that will assist you, alternatively please do contact the school.
Reception
In line with good practice in West Berkshire schools, we admit rising fives full-time at the beginning of the academic year in which they become five. Applications for admission into our Reception class are handled by West Berkshire Council and parents should complete an online application or collect an application form from their catchment school and return it by the closing date in January of the academic year before their child is due to start school. West Berkshire Admissions team will inform parents of their child’s school place in April
Information for New Reception Parents
We hold an induction evening for parents of our new Reception Class during the summer term before they start school. This provides an opportunity for parents to meet key staff and governors, collect further information and discuss any individual needs.
Induction Sessions
We encourage our new Reception children to attend planned induction sessions at the end of the Summer Term to help them to become familiar with school surroundings, meet members of staff and begin to form friendships with others starting school at the same time.
Starting School
Children often find their first few weeks at school very demanding, both physically and mentally, but our experienced staff plan for every child’s needs and our children settle quickly into school life. All of our new Reception children attend school full-time from the first week of term, although a phased entry can be devised to accommodate special needs when appropriate. Further information about School Admissions in West Berkshire is available on the West Berkshire Council Website.
