Years 5 & 6 (Red Kite Class) KS2

Year 5/6 Red Kite Class

Mr Higgins teaches Red Kite class and Miss Delaney and Miss Trewin work with us too. Mrs Riley teaches us on a Thursday afternoon, and we also visit Forest School once a week with Miss Bowyer. In the afternoons, we work with Pheasant class and enjoy being positive role modes to some of our younger learners.

Welcome to Red Kite class!

Being in Year 5 and 6 is really exciting for our older children as this comes with a range of extra responsibilities, such as librarians, sports leaders and house captains. The Red Kite children are excellent role models for our younger children and are always kind and supportive towards them.

Red Kites have PE twice a week, which includes swimming in the Summer term. Mr Mandry, our specialist coach, teaches us once a week and often takes us up to the recreation ground for our PE lessons.

We use a wide range of high quality texts to drive our English learning such as The Odyssey by GIllian Cross, The Wind in the Wall by Sally Gardiner and There's a Boy in the Girl's Bathroom by Louis Sacher.

Maths continues to be taught using the White Rose Maths scheme and children love using Times Table Rock Stars to refine their Times Table knowledge and rapid recall!
