Safeguarding

At Inkpen Primary School we take seriously our responsibility to protect and safeguard the welfare of children in our care.

Safeguarding is everyone's responsibility.

Our Safeguarding policy is to ensure that the school has effective measures in place to safeguard children from the potential risk of harm, and that the safety and wellbeing of the children are of the highest priority in all aspects of our school’s work.  Everyone who comes into contact with children and their families/carers and involved with the school (e.g. staff, governors, parents, carers, volunteers and visitors) share this commitment.

All school staff:

  • Are aware of their responsibilities in relation to safeguarding and child protection
  • Know the procedures that should be followed if they have a cause for concern
  • Know where to go to find additional information regarding safeguarding
  • Are aware of the key indicators relating to child abuse
  • Are committed to the school's commitment approach to safeguarding and child protection.
  • Have up to date safeguarding training
  • Have received training on how to use CPOMS (our chosen electronic safeguarding system) to record any safeguarding concerns.

Sometimes, when there are concerns about a child’s welfare, we may need to share information and work in partnership with other agencies. We will ensure that concerns about our pupils are discussed with parents/carers first unless we have reason to believe that such a move would be contrary to the child’s welfare.

If you are concerned about the immediate safety and welfare of any child call the police on 999.

You can discuss any concerns to:-

The School’s designated safeguarding lead Frances Buck (Head Teacher).

The School’s deputy designated safeguarding lead is Ruth Lambert (Administrator)

The School’s safeguarding governor Martin Chester.
